I have had no problems in the past saving patterns to a disc. BUT now that I have pro it will not let me save to a disc. how do I do this I have windows XP

Pro and XP combo and I have never had such issues.

If the system forbids you to save the error message would be helpful: sometimes XP gets confused and claims that you don't have writing rights to specific folder, but it never happens again so if you get that error, just click Cancel and try again.

You should just specify where to place the file and what the file name is to be. I have no problem doing this.
