Can anyone tell me how to save a pattern to a cd, then put it on another computer (which doesn't have pc stitch pro on it) the reason I need to do this is because my printer only does A4 and my printer in work has a A3 can it be done |

Thanks so much for the info on making into a jpeg file, as I designed something for someone and I needed to send her a pic of it as designed, without stitching it, so she could tell me what she wants different or if it is okay as is. :)

1) Get the trial version of PCStitch on the second computer:

2) Purchase myriaCross on the 2nd computer:
Sure you can use myriaCross but you need admin rights to install it.
I guess you do not have such rights at work !
3) Download and install a PDF Printer:
Just configure your PDF printer to print to A3 pages.
This way, you need no zooming and there will be no blurring.
I tested it with both PrimoPDF and PDFCreator and it works fine.

One problem using a Jpeg is the same problem you have with any true "graphics" format. Zooming causes blurring. A resize can affect the quality of the print and display. The beauty of programs like PCStitch is that the patterns are encoded and interpreted into the symbols within the program. There is NO blurring due to zooming. You can print at any size symbol and not have them or the gridlines become unreadable.

You can size the jpeg file using a photo editor program or by setting the resolution to a bigger size. If the file is in jpeg format you can insert it into a word processing program and size it for printing that way too. |

That's true. You can export as a Jpeg which would be very similar to my suggestion of saving as a PDF. However, the original request was to have it sized a certain way. I don't know if anything other than PAT would give the desired effect and that can only done using PCStitch or something that recognizes PCStitch formats such as myriaCross.

You can save a pattern as a jpeg file. on the file dropdown menu chose export. A small window comes up with many options and gives a preview of how it will look. Click on create image to view how it will look. When you have it as you want it chose save image. Give it a name and location and you now have a portable jpeg file with your pattern on it.
You can them save it to a cd for transport and printing elsewhere. |

There are a few ways of doing this.
1) Get the trial version of PCStitch on the second computer. It is limited but I think you can print file that you have NOT changed there.
2) Purchase myriaCross on the 2nd computer. The print facilities of myriaCross are only available on the licensed version. Then your saved .pat file can be read by and used for printing there.
3) Download and install a PDF Printer (such as PrimoPdf - free) on your first computer. Then "Print" to that virtual printer. Copy that file to a CD or flash drive and print from there on the 2nd computer. Most computers have Adobe Reader which will handle the .pdf file.
Rememnber that the .pat file can only be interpreted by certain software. You cannot print it directly without some software that recognized it's format. That is limited to PCStitch of a certain level or myriaCross.
