I again was working on a file and lost my work when all of a sudden PCstitch Pro closed. Oppss it was my error that close it I had multiple windows open and closed the wrong one.

I lost all the work I had done.

Is there any chance of getting an autosave function in an upcoming upgrade?

Diane,

UPSes have preventive effect. I have had it for three years, I think, and there hasn't been any power outages if I recall correctly.

Though, I recall only one power outage in last 20 years... advantages of earth lines, I guess.

Julia,

If you have a lot of power problems, I recommend you look into getting a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). They are getting more reasonable in price and you can get them at places like Best Buy. They allow you to keep your system up long enough to save your data and then power down correctly to prevent damage to your system.

Power surges and power outages can actually damage your data and even your entire computer.

I got one last year after finally getting totally fed up with odd power outages here (I'm in the middle of a large city). It's really wild to have your lights go out but your computer stay up without even a flicker! Of course, since I bought it, I have not had the power go out unexpectedly for more than a few seconds. The longest outage was about a week ago and we were notified ahead of time.

I don't know how often I have wished for an auto save feature, also. When I start on a new pattern I lose track of time and I have had to start over several times because of a power surge or a lighting strike miles away on the rural electric lines.

I think what is wanted is more like the auto-draft feature of Gmail. When you compose a message, it is automatically saved ever few minutes.

I agree, it would be nice if the program saved the current file every 15 to 30 minutes or something like that. It would be optional so it could be turned off is not desired.

That way you don't have to worry about working on a design for several hours and then have the program "burp" and you lose everything.

In the mean time - click save every time you feel you have made significant progress on your pattern. Make it a habit to click the floppy-disk icon frequently.

Odd, Pro should always ask do you want to save the file(s) you were working with.

If it didn't ask it probably was software's error.

(I hate to say this, but that is why you should save often.)
