I had to buy a new computer. Now when I open my PCStitch 6 in Windows8 I get a runtime error. IS this because my PCstitch version isn't compatible with Win8?

If I have to get a newer version (10?) is there any discount since I had it before or do I have to pay the full price again?

I am doing portraits of my family and would like to do the newest ones.

Gopher,

Only the latest version (already several years old) is supported under the newer operating systems.

I don't now but I did have PCStitch 7 installed on my Windows 7 (64 bit) successfully but decided it was so old, I didn't even need it to research questions anymore.

I know the price isn't bad for what PCStitch offers but it is actually for my mom who has used her vers. 6 all these years for many many pictures (including my horses, all her kids, grandkids and great grandkids, pets and other artwork) She is 80 and has had 2 strokes (but doing very well yet) and has one photo of someone she would like to do for my nephew before her eyesight is totally gone.(lost 1/2 sight in one eye and 3/4 in other from 2nd stroke this past month) She isn't sure she would want to put the money into a new version and only use it once more. I will let her know this so she can decide what she wants to do. Thank you for the response though!!!

(My Windows 7 doesn't work either with the old version of PCstitch.)

First question -- is your Windows 8 64 bit or 32 bit? It's possible that PCStitch 6 (well over 10 years old now) is only 16 bit and therefore won't work with 64 bit.

It's also possible that it's just too old.

You are running 4 generations back from the current version. Even the current version has been out for several years. There may be a discount but only Mark can determine that.

The price isn't that bad and for the amount of changes from 6 to 10 and the more than $100 worth of motifs and alphabets that are part of the software, the cost is well worth it in my opinion.
